a premonition

last saturday, i had to wake up early to bake some cakes for a friend's nephew and for our passover dinner that night ... around 7am, mikee came out of the bedroom still looking very, very sleepy ...

she went straight to me, sat on one of the dining chairs and started telling me stories ... i think i've already written before about how mikee like's to talk and that i've already gotten so used to it that i've already learned how to not hear what she's saying ... ssshhhh ...

so, that morning was not different ... she was talking and i wasn't really paying much attention ... but i remember that she was talking about a place ... i can't really remember what place ... i just remember that she was saying she doesn't want to go to that place ever again ... because she said that her teeth will fall off!!!

when i heard the last part, i was stunned coz i thought that she probably had a dream about her teeth falling off ... and in the philippines, that is no good news ... see, there's this old wives tale that when a person dreams of their teeth falling off, it is a premonition that a family member, a relative, or a good friend is going to die or meet an accident ...

so, when i heard what mikee said, for a few minutes there i thought, how do you ask a 4yo to bite a wooden anything to counter the premonition? (the old wives tale also says that to counter the premonition, the dreamer have to bite a tree but since we don't have a backyard, a wooden anything would probably do) ... but i was so busy with my baking that i easily forgot about it ...

but on saturday afternoon, a news reached me that reminded me about mikee's dream ... i learned that my eldest cousin was hit by a drunk motorcyclist that morning, about an hour before mikee woke up ... he was in a critical condition and is still in the icu up to now ...

creepy, isn't it???

anyway, please help to pray for my kuya mike's speedy recovery ... oh yeah, my cousin is sort of mikee's name sake ...
